The path for children is an amalgamation of foster and adoptive parent groups and associations, foster and adoptive families, day care parents and youth welfare professionals.

Goals of the association

The association wants to help as many children as possible grow up in families, support foster and adoptive families , prepare them for their tasks and qualify them. It demands intensive social work with the families of origin before, during and after the placement of your child in a foster / adoptive family. In cooperation with public and independent youth welfare organizations, he would like to create a comprehensive network of associations of foster and adoptive families.

The path for children prepares care applicants for their work in cooperation with youth authorities, holds regular specialist conferences for foster / adoptive families and youth welfare workers and organizes qualification measures for family care and standby foster families. For those who are interested, he offers themed advanced training through seminars and conferences and advises on foster and adoptive children. In addition, he provides information through his own articles in the trade journal of the Federal Association and publishes an association and information publication "PATH - CURRENT" with information on legal, educational and psychological issues. In his endeavor to promote networking, he works with national and international associations that strive for the well-being of the children and holds regional and national discussions with people from authorities, institutions, educational institutions, churches and politics. Since October 2009 he has been offering the project “Training volunteer multipliers and supporters to strengthen the self-help of foster and adoptive families on site”. The aim is to qualify experienced foster and adoptive parents as multipliers in order to put into practice advice and group work to support foster and adoptive families on a regional level. The three-year project is subsidized by the Aktion Mensch foundation with a focus on promoting civic engagement.

There are regional associations in the federal states of Baden-Württemberg , Bavaria , Berlin-Brandenburg , Hamburg , Rhineland-Palatinate and Schleswig-Holstein .

Memberships

The path for children is a member of the DPWV PFAD-BV (Federal Association of Foster and Adoptive Families) and the German League for Children .
