The Benz Break was offered parallel to the Benz Dos-à-Dos , but had eight or twelve seats. This makes it the brand's first omnibus .

The cars were exclusively equipped with four-stroke boxer engines with two cylinders, which were called Benz Contra engines . There were differently strong engines:

Construction period Displacement Bore × stroke power at speed
1898-1900 4245 cc 130 mm × 160 mm 13-15 PS (9.6-11 kW) 820 min -1
1899-1901 2690 cc 120 mm × 120 mm 8-10 PS (5.9-7.4 kW) 920 min −1

The wagons had wooden spoke wheels with solid rubber or pneumatic tires and rigid axles with fully elliptic leaf springs. They were equipped with a three-stage countershaft transmission with reverse gear, which was connected to both rear wheels with chains. The top speed was 30 km / h.

The stronger model was provided with 12 seats, the weaker with eight seats. Benz demanded from 6500.00 for the vehicles.
