The Benz 25/65 PS was the successor and at the same time the predecessor of the Benz 25/55 PS , which replaced it again after 1918. After the Benz 21/50 PS, it was the second six-cylinder model from the manufacturer Benz & Cie.

The car was fitted with a six-cylinder in-line engine with 6503 cc capacity, the 65 HP (48 kW) at 1650 min -1 developed. The engine power was passed on to a four-speed gearbox via a leather cone clutch and from there to the rear wheels via a cardan shaft. The top speed was 95 km / h.

The vehicles were still equipped with leaf-sprung rigid axles and wooden or wire-spoke wheels.
