The Benz Spider was the two-seater successor (with 2 jump seats) of the large Benz Dos-à-Dos . In a fully-fledged, four-seater version, it was also sold as the Benz Tonneau .

The cars had a two-cylinder boxer engine that was installed in the front. Its displacement was 2690 cm³ (bore × stroke = 120 mm × 120 mm) and it made 10 hp (7.4 kW).

The wagons had wooden spoked wheels with pneumatic tires and rigid axles with fully elliptic leaf springs. They were equipped with a four-stage countershaft transmission with reverse gear, which was connected to both rear wheels with chains. A maximum speed of between 40 and 45 km / h could be achieved.

The price list started at 8500.00.

After 1901, the tonneau was enlarged , while the spider was omitted.
