The Benz Elegant was the successor to the small Benz patent motor car Ideal . For the first time, a Benz vehicle had the engine installed at the front.

The cars were only equipped with four-stroke single-cylinder engines. The engine had a displacement of 1090 cm³ (bore × stroke = 115 mm × 110 mm) and developed 5-6 hp (3.7-4.4 kW).

The wagons had wooden spoke wheels with solid rubber or pneumatic tires and rigid axles with fully elliptic leaf springs. They were equipped with a four-stage countershaft transmission with reverse gear, which was connected to both rear wheels with chains. A maximum speed of between 40 and 45 km / h could be achieved.

There were various two and four-seater bodies, e.g. B. Elegant, Elegant Tonneau and Elegant Phaeton . The Phaeton cost 7500  .
