Vosswinkel rectory

The parsonage Voßwinkel is the early classicist parsonage of the Catholic St. Urbanus parish in the Arnsberg district of Voßwinkel . It is registered as an architectural monument in the list of monuments of the city of Arnsberg .

history

When the church burned in 1749, the old rectory was also destroyed and, like the church, it was probably rebuilt on the old foundation from 1750 to 1752.

At the beginning of the 1980s, the listed building was extensively renovated as it was classified as a "high-ranking property of supraregional importance". Against this background, employees of the Westphalian Office for the Preservation of Monuments succeeded in preventing the planned demolition and instead initiated an extensive restoration program. The building was repaired at a total cost of 700,000 DM while preserving the old structure. However, indications of pest infestation were hardly noticed. The half-timbered facade was restored in the traditional way with partitions made of clay and rod mesh.

In 1986 it was found that the house was infested with brass beetles ( Niptus hololeucus , a type of thief beetle ), which were only successfully combated after many years of attempted destruction - when the house was empty. From 1998 to August 1, 2012 the rectory was inhabited by the local pastor or used as a rectory. On February 1, 2013, the house was sold by the parish and is now privately owned as a residential building.

description

The building is a two-storey, eaves - standing half-timbered house under a crooked hip roof with five axes, the outer axes coupled. The side windows are in the "Bergisch" style next to the door.

The house has a hipped central dormer window with new red roof tiles, a green front door and a slate-covered west side.

It is axially related to the garden path of the deep parish garden.
