The club was founded in 1984 and plays its home games at the Estadio Rafael Calles Pinto , which has a capacity of 13,000. Llaneros de Guanare, who has never been a Venezuelan champion, currently plays in the Primera División , the top division in Venezuela .

The club Llaneros de Guanare, formerly Llaneros FC , was founded on August 26, 1984 in Guanare , the capital and largest city of the Venezuelan state of Portuguesa in the north-west of the country with more than one hundred thousand inhabitants .
Llaneros FC played in the lower leagues of Venezuelan football in the first few years after the club was founded. In 1992 the promotion to the Primera División , the top division in Venezuelan football , was achieved for the first time . Since then, Llaneros FC has developed as an " elevator team ", which means that they always commuted between the first and second Venezuelan football league. During this time, the club won the championship title of the second division four times, in 1995/96, 1998/99, 2010/11 and 2018 they were first in the Segunda División. The association was renamed Llaneros de Guanare in 2015.
