The rectory in the center of Zellerndorf in Lower Austria is a listed building from the Baroque period . The parish church is about 500 meters away from the village.

history

Between 1718 and 1720 the main building of the rectory was built under Father Erembert Müller at the instigation of Carl Fetzer, the abbot of the Schottenstift in Vienna at the time . In 1734, the work started in 1733 on the farmyard was completed.

description

main building

The main building is a two-story structure with a seven-axis display facade, which is structured with pilasters . The entrance, a stone-walled portal with a curved gable, is arranged in the middle.

The roof was originally designed as a mansard roof . Drawings of a building survey dated 1775, which was carried out on behalf of Abbot Benno I , already show today's crooked roof .

Utility wings

The simply designed utility wings extend on both sides of the courtyard in front of the main building. They are single-storey and elongated buildings with gable roofs .

The west wing with baroque stab cap barrels originally housed the stables and the press house .

The eastern wing was used as a warehouse and carriage shed and housed the parish chancellery at its northern end, which was converted into a house chapel in 1772.

A connecting wall between the two wings closes the courtyard to the north. Access is through a basket arched portal built in 1734

House chapel

The house chapel emerged from the parish chancellery, which was rebuilt in 1772 and was redesigned and enlarged in 1869. In the course of this work, the portal and the two oval windows of the flat-roofed hall area were also created.
