Arnfels parish church
The Roman Catholic parish church of Arnfels is in the village of Arnfels in the market town of Arnfels in the Leibnitz district of Styria . The church, consecrated to the birth of Mary , belongs to the Leibnitz deanery in the Graz-Seckau diocese . The church building is a listed building .
history
A church Maria am Waasen was built around the middle of the 15th century . With Countess Eleonore Dernbach and her second husband Franz Erwein von Schönborn, a new building was built from 1714 to 1717 and consecrated in 1734. Before a branch of Sankt Johann im Saggautal , the church was elevated to a parish church in 1788. The inside of the church was restored in 1910 and the outside in 1973.
architecture
The south-facing church building has a four-bay nave with inserted pillars with chapels and galleries above. The retracted one and a half bay choir with galleries in the north bay has a three-eighths closure. The nave and choir have groin vaults on belts on flat pilasters with strong cornice capitals. The galleries have balusters. The wall panels show foliage and strip work.
Furnishing
The mighty high altar with pillars fills the entire end of the choir, created by Johann Matthias Leitner (1728). The tabernacle is from 1847.
