history

The baroque church building with medieval wall remains has a south tower and is surrounded by a cemetery. The church is mentioned in 1157 as the foundation of Freising . From 1737 to 1739 the church was rebuilt by Georg Hueber. From 1794 to 1798 the medieval tower was raised and baroque by Johann and Michael Hueber. In 1972 an exterior restoration was carried out.

architecture

The simple church building with nave and choir is structured with pilaster strips. On the north wall of the nave is a late Gothic grooved pointed arch portal from the end of the 15th century.

The church tower is medieval on the lower floors. The bell storey, set off by a cornice, has round-arched baroque sound openings and above it an octagonal storey with an onion helmet. To the west of the tower is a two-bay baroque funeral hall with a groin vault on pillars, to the east a two-storey sacristy. A triangular gable with a main cornice emphasizes the west facade. The arched west portal made of marble with volute wedge was given an illusionistic frame by the painter Wolfram Köberl in 1954 .

The wide four-bay nave is spanned by barrel vaults, each of which has been ground down to form the pillars and chords, so that each bay acts as a spatial unit. The wall pillars have double pilasters with cranked entablature pieces and double straps. The west gallery stands on marble columns. Behind the round-arched triumphal arch is a choir, which is the same width as the nave, with a semicircle as the choir closure. The choir vault has trapezoidal stitch caps. There is a southern choir gallery.

The stucco framing of the ceiling paintings in the choir was created before 1740. The stucco framing in the nave was created in 1958 by the plasterer Rudolf Haas. The ceiling paintings in the choir show the glory of St. Peter and scenes from his life, painted around 1740. The frescoes of angels making music , Mary's scapular donation , angel fall and saint with scapular in the nave were painted in 1905 by Franz Fuchs .
