Franz Xaver Fuchs

Franz Xaver Fuchs (born August 31, 1868 in Hall in Tirol , † November 10, 1944 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian painter .

Life

The son of a landowner studied painting from 1890 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Ludwig von Löfftz . From 1892 to 1897 he taught drawing at the Franziskanergymnasium in Hall. During the First World War he commanded the Standschützen Battalion in Innsbruck. After that he lived in Munich, Rome and Salzburg, in 1924 he returned to Hall. He created altarpieces and frescoes for churches and also worked as a restorer .
