Parish church Deutsch Tschantschendorf
The Roman Catholic parish church Deutsch Tschantschendorf is in the center of Deutsch Tschantschendorf in the municipality of Tobaj ( Hungarian : " Tobaj ") in the Güssing district in Burgenland . It is dedicated to the feast of the birth of the Virgin Mary and belongs to the Deanery of Güssing .
history
According to the deed, the parish was founded in 1788. The existing building was built around 1807. The church was restored in 1970/71.
Architecture and equipment
The church is a simple classical building. The gable facade is a west tower with a pointed helmet. The church has one nave and four bays. The apse is polygonal.
A square vault rests on double pilasters between the belt arches . The gallery is triaxial.
A semicircular triumphal arch separates the apse from the nave. Above the apse is a bowl vault with stitch caps .
The high altar was made in 1922 in late neo-Gothic style by Johann Pomper in Güssing .
