The Ebenthal parish church in Carinthia stands on a free space in the market town of Ebenthal in Carinthia in the Klagenfurt-Land district in Carinthia . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to Maria Hilf and Peter and Paul , belongs to the dean's office of Klagenfurt-Stadt in the diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

The previous church of St. Peter zu Schrelz was built on the site of today's church from 1265 to 1267. The place Schrelz was renamed Ebenthal in 1567. Today's church was built before 1767 under Provost Anton Buecher and consecrated in 1770. The branch church of Gurnitz was raised to an independent parish church in 1905.

architecture

The uniform late baroque church building has two slender west towers with onion helmets. The vault painting was done by Gregor Lederwasch (1766).

Furnishing

The mighty late baroque high altar with a relaxed column architecture shows the miraculous image of Maria Hilf and bears the figures of Peter and Paul in a version by Anton Jaggl in 1762 above the sacrificial passage portals. Josef Kapfer created the tabernacle in 1767, the plastic decorations were created by Benedikt Pläß in 1768.

The right side altar around 1770 shows the painting Holy Family with Johannesknabe by Gregor Lederwasch and bears the figures Stephanus and Laurentius. The left side altar is called IR 1820 and shows the painting Apollonia von Alexandria by Gregor Lederwasch and bears the figures Katharina and Lucia.

The rococo pulpit from the third quarter of the 18th century was attributed to Josef Mayer, it shows the coat of arms of Probst J. Aichwalder von Gurnitz, the sound cover bears the figure of the Good Shepherd. To the left of this is an octagonal Gothic font with a stonemason's mark.

The organ has a late baroque case.

  • On the south wall in the choir, memorial plaque to the founder of the church A. Buecher 1767 with coat of arms.
  • On the north side of the triumphal arch memorial plaque of the Graf Goëß family.
  • On the south side of the triumphal arch, memorial plaque to the visit of Maria Theresa in Ebenthal in 1765.
