history

architecture

The parish church Maria Schnee in the southern area of the closer town of Enns forms a building group or a monument ensemble together with the attached Wallseer chapel and the cloister and the Franciscan monastery located in the south of the parish church . The Gothic parish church surprises with its unusual length and space. The original nave had a flat ceiling and was probably vaulted in the second half of the 15th century and expanded into a two-aisled, four-bay hall church with a ribbed vault on octagonal pillars. The strongly constricted front arch comes from the earlier church. The drawn-in, elongated, three-bay and rib-vaulted choir from 1300, which is excessive in relation to the nave, has a five-eighth end. The two-bay, three-axis west gallery lies on a ribbed vault and has disrupted proportions due to the later raising of the floor in the nave.
