The Roman Catholic parish church Franzensdorf is located in the village of Franzensdorf in the municipality of Groß-Enzersdorf in the Gänserndorf district in Lower Austria . It is consecrated to Saint Joseph and is located in the Marchfeld deanery in the vicariate Unter dem Manhartsberg of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

The church can be seen from afar and is in the village of Franzensdorf.

history

The parish of Franzensdorf was officially founded in 1784. The church was built in 1842.

architecture

Church exterior

The church is a late classicist building with a mighty nave and a dominating west facade. This is structured by pilasters and a console frieze. Above it is a triangular gable with a facade tower and a Biedermeier helmet . There is a lunette window above the west portal .

The nave is long, the choir drawn in a little. The choir and nave have lunette windows. A sacristy annex adjoins the choir on the east side .

Church interior

In the nave there is a flat dome between two broad, square vaulted bays . The nave is divided by stuccoed belt arches. Below the vault there is a slightly cranked cornice. The square choir is drawn in and arched. The choir is just closing.

Furnishing

The high altar is a late classical columnar altar. The altarpiece shows the Holy Family . It was painted by Leopold Kupelwieser in 1842 . The side figures represent the Saints Peter and Paul . They were created in the middle of the 18th century.

The side altar is kept simple. The altar sheet by Leopold Kupelwieser shows " Christ on the Mount of Olives ". The late classicist pulpit from the beginning of the 19th century is kept simple. The picture of St. Martin was painted by Leopold Kupelwieser, the picture of the Holy Family by Anton Raphael Mengs . The latter may be a copy. The Stations of the Cross were created in the middle of the 19th century, the baroque font at the end of the 17th century.

The organ is classical and was rebuilt in 1844 by Josef Loyp .
