history

A church was mentioned in a document in 1075. From the early Gothic basilica, after the baroque renovation and enlargement of the church around 1701/1702, only the central nave walls with the pointed arcades approximated to a round arch remained. The west tower has a pointed hood in baroque forms from 1909. The side portals and the confessional chapel were built in 1901 and 1910/1911.

architecture

The three-aisled, five-bay nave with squeezed proportions has a needle cap barrel in the central nave, the side aisles have cross vaults. The square crossing and the two-bay choir with a segment of a circle have cross vaults. The floor plan axis is bent to the south opposite the nave. The two transverse arm yokes have flat hanging dome vaults. The walls show an ionic pilaster structure.

Furnishing

The neo-baroque high altar was built in 1874. The altars on the nave pillars from 1766 were created by Matthias Götz. A late Gothic statue with child from 1500 was later revised. The pulpit was built around 1700.

There are tombstones in the choir for Hans Adam Orth 1585 with the relief Adam in Paradise, Sigismund Polheim 1598 and his wife 1582 with reliefs of the four evangelists and archangels. There are other tombstones from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Sebastian Chapel

The Sebastian Chapel or Lourdes Chapel is in the south of the parish church. The late Gothic chapel has a single-nave, three-bay nave with ribbed vaults and a three-eighth end. The western ridge turret wears a pyramid helmet. The decor is neo-Gothic. There is an ex-voto picture with a view of Grieskirchen from 1713, restored in 1954.
