Alexander Schubart

Alexander "Aschu" Schubart (born April 7, 1931 in Jena ; † September 23, 2016 ) was a German lawyer, civil servant, environmentalist and co-founder of the Hesse Green List .

Life

Schubart was a son of the cultural philosopher Walter Schubart (1897–1942) and the lawyer Vera Schubart born. Berman.

Schubart was initially a member of the SPD. In 1978 he was one of the founders of the Green List Hesse and leading candidate for the Hesse state election in October 1978. On November 14, 1981, he called the city manager in Frankfurt and as speaker of the citizens' initiative against the construction of the western runway to a blockade action at Frankfurt airport on . Since there were riots, Schubart was sentenced in 1983 to a suspended sentence of 24 months in prison for breach of the peace and coercion by constitutional organs. In the appeal proceedings, the allegation of coercion by constitutional organs was dropped and the sentence, now only for breach of the peace, was reduced to eight months in prison on probation. A constitutional complaint by Schubart was dismissed.
