The Roman Catholic parish church of Haimburg is in the village of Haimburg in the municipality of Völkermarkt in Carinthia . The church is consecrated to Our Lady of the Assumption and belongs to the deanery Völkermarkt / Velikovec in the diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection .

history

First mentioned in a document in 1272, it belonged to Griffen Abbey from the 14th century . After its abolition in 1786, it became a parish church again.

Building

The late Gothic building has a Romanesque core. The presented west tower with eight-sided pointed helmet was renewed after an earthquake in 1767. The roofs are covered with stone slabs. The choir with a 5/8 end is higher than the nave and has Gothic windows with fish-bubble tracery. During the interior restoration in 1993, the late Gothic polychromy of the ribbed vault was restored. Its fields show angels making music with old instruments in the choir.

Facility

The baroque high altar is from 1673. During the pre-Easter Lent it is covered with a late Gothic (1504) Lent cloth. It shows scenes from the Old and New Testament
painted with glue on linen in 36 fields . The artist is unknown. To the left of the altar, on the north wall of the choir, there is a stone, Gothic tabernacle .

In the shrine of the left side altar, in front of the triumphal arch, there is a statue of St. Joseph with the baby Jesus. Next to it on the left are John the Baptist , on the right St. Barbara . In the top picture is St. Anna is shown with her daughter Maria. The Florian altar, on the right in front of the triumphal arch, has a statue of St. Florian . The altar of Mary on the north wall of the nave shows a crowned figure of Mary with child, on the left St. Sebastian and on the right St. Rochus .

In the fields of the basket of the neo-Gothic pulpit are high reliefs of Moses and the evangelists
