The Roman Catholic parish church of Harth is slightly elevated in the village of Harth in the municipality of Geras in the Horn district in Lower Austria . It is consecrated to St. Roch and is located in the Deanery of Geras in the diocese of St. Pölten . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

Between 1670 and 1675, today's rectory with a Rochus chapel integrated into the building complex was built as the service yard of the Geras monastery . In 1783 Harth was elevated to a parish and incorporated into the Geras Abbey . In 1835, today's parish church was built by master builder Mathias Böhm .

architecture

Church exterior

The church is a North-oriented hall construction with extruded, the same high choir in the late baroque forms. The church tower to the west is attached to the rectory to the west. The church is a simple structure with a profiled eaves cornice and corner pilasters . The church windows are arched. There is a gable roof over the church . The south facade of the church is smooth and is closed at the top by a curved gable . Above it is a stone figure of St. Mary with child from around 1700. The portal is segment-arched and has an iron plate door. The connections to the short choir are bevelled. The choir is closed in an arched segment. the church tower is built between the nave and the rectory. The two-storey church tower has a square floor plan and is slightly recessed. The corners of the church tower are squared above them are pilaster strips. The sound windows are rounded. Above it is a clock gable wreath and a wood-shingled onion helmet . On the outside of the church is a baroque tombstone with a relief of the Mater Dolorosa under the crucified Christ from the first half of the 18th century with an inscription on the parish history.

Church interior

Above the nave is a flat ceiling with a surrounding cornice over pilasters. The west gallery rests on square vaults and Tuscan columns. The triumphal arch is basket-shaped. There is a square vault above the choir.

Furnishing

The facility was reorganized around 1965. The high altar with a hanging crucifix stands above a brick altar table from around 1965. The right side altar is a late Baroque retable altar from the last third of the 18th century. It consists of a two-storey structure above a curved altar table, which was partly composed of fragments from around 1700. On the sides are Corinthian pilasters, above is a segmented gable top. The figures of Saints Sebastian and Rochus date from around 1700. The “Adoration of the Magi” is shown in the extract. The scene was painted in the middle of the 18th century. Above it are candlestick angels from the beginning of the 18th century. The left side altar consists of a curved altar table, above is a group of St. Mary with Child in a halo, surrounded by stucco clouds and putti from the mid-18th century. The setting and gilding are from the 19th century. In the choir there is a canvas painting of St. Sebastian from the middle of the 18th century. It was painted by goiter . A crucifix from the first half of the 18th century and a polychrome group of purgatory from the middle of the 18th century hang under the gallery. The figural glass windows and the crossways reliefs date from 1965. The bell was cast by Ferdinand Drackh in 1729 .

The organ dates from the second half of the 18th century.
