The Roman Catholic parish church Hornstein is in the market town of Hornstein in Burgenland . The parish church of St. Anna belongs to the dean's office in Eisenstadt in the diocese of Eisenstadt . The church and the Pietà column are listed .

history

The old parish church under a castle was built in 1363 and demolished in 1776. The new parish church was built on the site in 1782 and consecrated in 1803. Restorations were in 1902, 1929, 1945/1946, 1973 and 1977.

A train bell that was confiscated during the Second World War was found by a Hornstein innkeeper in a Viennese bell cemetery in 1947 and was consecrated again.

architecture

The simple, large church building has an integrated facade tower with a pyramid helmet. The choir are three flat cones. The sacristy is attached to the east apse. The west portal shows the inscription Anno 1782. In the tower yoke is a gallery above a pressed arch with a needle cap barrel. The two-bay nave has square vaults on wide supports with double pilasters and double straps. The triumphal arch is strongly fluted. The choir has a square vault and half-domes over the cones.

Furnishing

The high altar with a free-standing rococo tabernacle shows on the wall a large altarpiece Anna with Maria in a curly frame with plait decoration.
