The Roman Catholic parish church Königsdorf on the northern outskirts of the municipality Königsdorf ( Hungarian : Királyfalva ) in the Jennersdorf district in Burgenland is dedicated to St. Stephan of Hungary and belongs to the dean's office in Jennersdorf .

history

The parish of Königsdorf has existed since 1719. Today's church was built between 1757 and 1759, previously there was a wooden church on this site. Count Batthyany donated the building site for the church and cemetery. The interior design was only created over the years.

The original bells were removed during the First World War . After the tower had been renovated, new bells could be consecrated in 1925. However, these bells became a victim of World War II .

In 1945 the church and tower burned down completely - only the foundation walls remained. Reconstruction began immediately after the end of the war. The church tower was redesigned in 1949 and given a copper roof. In 1959 four new bells were consecrated.

In 1965 the church was renovated. Another renovation took place in 1994 (inside) and 1995 (outside).

As part of the village renewal, the church square was redesigned in 2002.
