In February 2013, in connection with the horse meat scandal in Europe , the world's largest food company, Nestlé, found undeclared proportions of horse meat in frozen products sold by a number of suppliers, including a. by HJ Schypke. The public prosecutor's offices investigated suspicions of violation of the Food and Feed Act and also carried out a search at HJ Schypke. The local press immediately brought a report with allegations (Oldenburgische Volkszeitung, Rep. Ryschka), but in retrospect without having researched here. According to Schypke, the company never bought horse meat. After the investigation by (in this case) the Oldenburg public prosecutor's office, HJ Schypke was fully relieved of the charge of processing or deliberately trading in horse meat and the proceedings were discontinued.
