The parish church Kapellen an der Mürz is located in the village of Kapellen in the market town of Neuberg an der Mürz in the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district in Styria . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to Saint Margaret of Antioch belongs to the Mürz Valley dean's office in the Graz-Seckau diocese . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

A church was documented in 1329. The church was incorporated into Neuberg Abbey until 1786 . In 1788 the church was elevated to a parish church.

architecture

The end of the choir has stepped buttresses.

The wide rectangular nave with a Gothic pointed arched west portal has a flat ceiling. The wooden west gallery stands on wooden pillars. The Gothic ogival front arch is constricted. The one-bay Gothic choir with a five-eighth end has a ribbed vault on simple consoles with round keystones and two-lane tracery windows with panes from 1887. The Gothic rectangular sacristy portal has a wrought iron door with Gothic fittings. The baroque north chapel has a groin vault.

Furnishing

The high altar from the end of the 17th century contains older cartilage cheeks.

The organ was built by Friedrich Werner in 1875.
