The Roman Catholic parish church Möggers stands on a hill in the south of the municipality Möggers in the Bregenz district in Vorarlberg . The parish church , consecrated to Saint Ulrich of Augsburg , belongs to the Bregenz deanery of the Feldkirch diocese . The church is a listed building .

history

The original branch of Weiler im Allgäu became an independent parish by the beginning of the 15th century at the latest. In 1352 the lords of Weiler were the patrons. The Gothic church was demolished in 1738 and a new baroque building was erected and consecrated in 1746. In 1885 there was a restoration. In 1895 the vestibule was added.

architecture

The church is surrounded by a narrow walled cemetery. The simple baroque building with a nave and a choir apse under a shared saddle roof has a low vestibule and a medieval north tower with a saddle roof. A two-storey sacristy is attached to the south.

The nave and choir show themselves without a plastic structure with the massive tower of the previous church in the northern choir corner. The tower has one arched sound openings to the west and two to the north.

The hall with a flat ceiling over a surrounding cornice has flat arched windows in stuccoed frames. The retracted round arched choir arch has a stucco leaf strip on wall pillars. The choir with a round apse has a flat ceiling over a surrounding cornice and a cove. On the left in the choir is a stone-framed arched entrance to the tower and on the right to the sacristy. The west gallery has a bulged parapet.

Anton Marte (1909) painted the frescoes , in the choir Adoration of the Eucharist, in the choir on the wall on the left Peter and on the right Paul, in the nave of the Ascension of Christ and in the stucco frame the Twelve Apostles. The stained glass of the Tyrolean Glasmalereianstalt around 1935 shows Johannes Vianney in the choir on the left and Gebhard and Lamm Gottes on the right, Elisabeth, Theresia and Agnes in the nave on the left, Wendelin, Johannes the Baptist and Laurentius on the right.

Alois Reich created the war memorial outside the vestibule with the figure of dying warriors.

Furnishing

The high altar as a baroque structure with four columns on a strong volute base and a flat volute extension with twisted flanking columns shows the high altar picture Crucifixion of Christ with Mary, Johannes and Magdalena and in the upper picture Heart of Jesus, both painted by Anton Marte (1909). The high altar bears the figures Ulrich on the left and Jodok on the right from the middle of the 18th century and two angels from the end of the 18th century on the entablature and two angels from the end of the 19th century to the side of the tabernacle.

The left side altar with the same structure as the high altar shows the altar sheet St. Bernhard in front of Maria with child and in the upper picture St. Anna with Maria by Anton Marte (1909). There is a rosary Madonna attachment figure from the beginning of the 20th century. The right side altar with the same structure as the left shows the altarpiece Marter des St. Sebastian and 1700 and in the upper picture St. Joseph with Jesus from the beginning of the 19th century and carries a figure Herz Jesu by Alois Reich .

The pulpit from the middle of the 18th century shows figures of the four church fathers on the basket. The choir arch crucifix is ​​from the 19th century. Felix Spihler called a tombstone pastor in Möggers died 1776. In the vestibule with a flat ceiling there is a Lourdes grotto on the right and the painting Purgatory by Jac Bertle 1897 on the left. There is also an altar structure around 1780 from the demolished wooden chapel in Ramsach with an altar sheet Glorie des St. Wendelin and floating St. Bernhard with the church Maria Einsiedeln and in the upper picture Anna and Joachim and carries the figures Michael and Theresia.

The organ with a neo-Romanesque case was built by the Mayer brothers in 1896 .
