Lords of Weiler
The lords of Weiler were a Swabian noble family that was divided into the lines Altenburg and Scheiben . The family's ancestral castle was Altenburg near Weiler in the Allgäu .
history
The lords of Weiler had arms from the monastery of St. Gallen , later from the Count of Montfort . Burkhard von Weiler was the first of the Lords of Weiler to be mentioned in a document in 1212 when he took part in the occupation of the castle of St. Gallen . Further mentions are Rudolf von Weiler 1246 and Ulrich von Wilar 1258 & 1273. From 1352 the lords of Weiler were the patron saints of the Möggers parish church . In 1428 the Siebersquelle was opened up by the Lords of Weiler. In 1472, Wilhelm von Weiler and Hans von Laubenberg were put into the eight for the murder of Conrad Inderbünd , from which they were released in the same year. In 1483 he and his cousin Burkart von Weiler zur Scheiben donated the chapel of Our Lady in the cemetery in Weiler . Anna von Weiler and her husband Hans Ulrich von Schellenberg founded the Hospital of the Holy Spirit in Kisslegg . Also the leprosarium in Bremen Ried was built by the Lords of the hamlet. With the death of Hans Wilhelm in 1557, the lords of Weiler became extinct from the male line. The daughters sold the Altenburg estate including the castle in 1569 to the House of Habsburg , which from then on was administered by a Vogt and later by the Bregenz District Office. The administration sat in the Altenburg and later in the office building - today's town hall - in Weiler. In 1806 the Altenburg court was transferred to the Weiler regional court .
In addition to the Altenburg also included Burgoberbach discs , the castle Schreckenmanklitz and the castle Thurn for possession of the Lords of Weiler.
