Mettmach parish church
The Roman Catholic Mettmach parish church is located in Mettmach in the market town of Mettmach in the Ried im Innkreis district in Upper Austria . The church, consecrated to St. Stephen , belongs to the dean's office in Aspach in the diocese of Linz . The church is a listed building .
history
A church was mentioned in a document in 1039. The Gothic church building was rebuilt and expanded in 1734 and 1844.
architecture
The three-aisled, four-bay nave has a central nave with three western bays with Gothic vaults, where the ribs were removed and stuccoed, the eastern bay has a flat hanging dome. The south aisle has two Gothic western bays, the ribs also removed here, with stucco as in the central nave, the other bays and in the north aisle have a hanging dome. The one-yoke choir has a five-eighth end , which is rounded on the outside. The early Gothic west tower with a rib vaulted bell was transferred to the octagon in the top and has an onion helmet from 1791. The late Gothic south portal has a vaulted vestibule.
Furnishing
The decor is neo-Gothic. On the southern side altar are two baroque sculptures from around 1660. The statues Peter and Paul were created by Johann Peter Schwanthaler the Elder (1763) and were restored in 1953.
