The Roman Catholic parish church Neumarkt in Steiermark is located in Neumarkt in Steiermark in the municipality Neumarkt in der Steiermark in the Murau district in Styria . The parish church consecrated to St. Catherine - incorporated into St. Lambrecht Abbey - belongs to the Murau deanery in the Graz-Seckau diocese . The church is a listed building .

history

It has been subordinate to St. Lambrecht Abbey since 1252. The current church was built between 1492 and 1501. In 1669 and 1813 it burned in the church, in 1844 the tower collapsed and damaged the choir and the eastern part of the nave. A new tower was built in 1914 and the interior was restored in 1974.

The church is surrounded by a walled churchyard with initial chapels .

The three-aisled, four-bay hall church has a star-rib vault on grooved square pillars with round services at the corners. The central nave shows round keystones with a flower pattern as well as three coat of arms stones, the middle coat of arms stone shows the year 1501.

High altar of the parish church

The high altar was built around 1735 to 1740 with Balthasar Prandtstätter , the architectural parts above the gallery were removed, the tabernacle is from the middle of the 19th century.
