Initia chapel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An initiation chapel is a chapel that is built into a cemetery wall that surrounds the church. There are four chapels each and the distribution of these facilities exists in the diocese of Graz-Seckau in Styria .

description

The initial chapels, usually four in number, which are only accessible from the inside, surround a church and act in the cemetery wall like components of a defensive system. They only became common from the Baroque period , when defense was no longer necessary. So they were mainly a design element.
