history

In 1072 and documented in 1131 an original parish of Gurk.

The Gothic church building from the 15th century was converted to baroque style. Instead of the former Gothic tower, there is now a baroque sacristy. The mighty, presumably baroque, west tower was changed after 1759. In 1998 there was a restoration.

architecture

The presented four-storey baroque west tower stands on four pillars and shows blind windows and plaster decorations. The nave and choir are hardly separated from each other, the choir with buttresses is covered with stone slabs. There is a niche with Gothic bars next to the western entrance.

The interior of the church shows a nave under a baroque needle cap barrel. The baroque gallery shows stucco fields on the parapet. The broad semicircular triumphal arch is essentially Gothic. The one-bay choir with a five-eighth closure has a Gothic baroque vault on consoles, a shoulder-arched Gothic portal leads into the sacristy attached to the north. The windows are baroque.

Furnishing

The baroque high altar bears carved figures by Johann Pacher 1769 in a version by Franz Höcher 1772, Georg in the middle, Peter and Paul on the side, Trinity in the essay, the figures Achatus and Florian originally belonging to the high altar are now in niches on the side.

The organ was built around 1700. One bell names 1494, one bell names Josef Gosmatschin 1759, one bell has no name. Grassmayer cast three bells in 1985.

Funerary monuments

  • In the western outer wall with Opus spicatum numerous spolia from Roman times grave structures with plant and figural representations are walled up, the reliefs are partly badly damaged, including probably an attis and a maenad representation as well as a pilaster with acanthus relief .
