The remains of the castle can be found on a rock cone above the Glan valley not far from Frauenstein. First mentioned in 1181 as castrum Vrieberch , Freiberg was the main castle of the Carinthian dukes from the end of the 12th century. In 1307 it was chosen by Otto Graf von Görz as the main residence, but soon it was only used as a pledge and gradually fell into disrepair. Probably a ruin already abandoned in the 15th century, in 1533 it was only referred to as the "desolate tower". Two preserved keep indicate that the extensive complex could be a double castle. The remains of the castle chapel are also preserved.

Ruins of the Kraiger castles Hochkraig and Neu- or Niederkraig, on the southern slope of the Kraiger Berg above a terrace north of Sankt Veit. The Lords of Kraig were first mentioned in a document in 1091, and at the beginning of the 13th century they were Truchsesse and in the 15th century they were provincial governors of Carinthia. In 1558 the castles are owned by Count Hardegg, and in 1591 by Khevenhüller . After 1629 the owner families change, since 1822 the ruins and the surrounding forests belong to the Goëss family . Both systems have been more or less abandoned to decay since the 17th century, and security and renovation measures have been carried out since 1998.
