The Schaumburg ruin is the ruin of a hilltop castle on a rocky hill in the Mühlbachgraben above the scattered settlement Schaumboden in the municipality of Frauenstein in Carinthia .

The name of the castle can be derived from "look", from here you have a wide view over a landscape with meadows and wooded slopes. The fortress is said to have originally been owned by the provosts of Gurk , but around 1200 it is mentioned as a fiefdom of the Trixen people . At that time, wine was grown around the castle and the Trotter mill is located at the foot of the rock.

The remains of the building, which are under monument protection , are largely covered by dense tree vegetation. From the original Romanesque building there are still some parts of the wall and a 3.5 meter high part of the northern outer wall of the residential building as well as remains of the four to six meter high tower, as well as courtyard buildings from the 14th century. The complex was purely a defense structure and consisted of only two buildings and a rectangular courtyard.
