Parish church Pamhagen

The Roman Catholic parish church Pamhagen in the center of the municipality Pamhagen in the Neusiedl am See district in Burgenland is dedicated to the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross and belongs to the dean's office of Frauenkirchen .

history

The Pamhagen parish already existed before 1380. The previous building of today's church was not in the same place, but on the vineyard "Kirchenäcker". During the second Turkish siege , this church burned down. In 1961 its foundations were excavated.

Today's parish church in the village was built in 1754. In 1871 it was renovated and between 1954 and 1955, Franz Peck rebuilt it to expand the choir.

Architecture and equipment

The church is a large building with a transept, a retracted round apse and a front western tower with a bell-shaped dome. In the three-bay, baroque nave there is a square vault that is supported between belts on flat pilasters . The three-axis gallery on the square vaults has a parapet in front.

The former altarpiece is now hanging on the transept wall. It dates from the second half of the 18th century and shows " Herakleios brings the cross back to Jerusalem ".

The holy water font dates back to 1755 and is labeled "MG".
