Parish Church of Preding
The Roman Catholic parish church Preding stands on a hill in the market town of Preding in the district of Deutschlandsberg in Styria . The parish church and pilgrimage church , consecrated to St. Maria im Dorn, belonged to the then dissolved dean's office of Deutschlandsberg in the diocese of Graz-Seckau until the end of August 2018 ; since this dean's office was closed, it has been located in the pastoral care area of south-western Styria. The church is a listed building .
history
In 1355 a parish was named. In 1532 there was a fire during a Turkish invasion. New buildings were built in 1699 and 1745 using Gothic components.
architecture
The wide three-bay nave has a groin vault on double chords and double pilasters in the style of Jakob Schmerlaib (around 1699). The two-bay choir with a five-eighth end has a square vault on belts on strongly stepped wall pilasters with cornice capitals and stucco frame strips (around 1743).
Furnishing
The high altar and the side altars in the Rococo style in the style of Jakob Peyer were consecrated in 1765 and re-gilded in 1893.
