The dean's office in Deutschlandsberg was a dean's office in the Roman Catholic diocese of Graz-Seckau . It emerged from the new dean's structure on September 1, 1972 (actual appointment as of October 3, 1973, because a predecessor had to retire). Its first dean was the pastor of Deutschlandsberg at the time, Johann Kollar. Earlier, as part of various reforms, there had been district deans and land deans for the parishes in this area, which had their seat (in addition to Groß St. Florian and Schwanberg) also in Deutschlandsberg, from 1828 to 1834, from 1842 to 1848, 1899 to 1903 and again from 1904 (1905: "Landdechantei") or (as Kreisdekanat Weststeiermark) from October 1, 1961. Forerunners of the deanery structure were the archdeaconates , of which the archdeaconate Groß St. Florian u. a. for the area of ​​and around Deutschlandsberg, the Archdiakonat Hengsberg for Preding, St. Stefan and Stainz and the Archdiakonat Straßgang for the area of ​​Eibiswald. The archdeaconates were abolished in the course of the reforms under Emperor Josef II , after which the district diaconates of St. Florian, Leibnitz (Eibiswald, Saggautal), Marburg (for the Soboth) and Straßgang (Stainztal and Preding) were responsible for the parishes in the Deutschlandsberg area .
