description

The church was redesigned in Baroque style in 1678 and only the choir and the substructure of the tower have been preserved in the Gothic or Romanesque style. The entire church building is covered by a hipped roof. The tower is set in the southwest corner of the nave and was rebuilt in 1748 after the fire of 1744. He has a triple, neo-baroque onion helmet . The entire church has plaster strips on the outer wall . Around the entrance portal in the west there is a group of three figure niches, the middle of these niches being set in the blasted portal gable. In these niches there are stone figures of Saints Joseph, Peter and Paul from around 1700 . The door leaves of the portal, designed as a metal drive, were made by Franz Weiss in 1967 .

The three-aisled, four-bay nave is spanned by a flat groin vault with belt arches, which rests on pillars with pilasters and Tuscan capitals . In the apex of the vault you will find small pearl rod - stucco fields . The uneven, two-bay choir has a protruding three-eighth end with stepped buttresses and is vaulted by a square vault from the second half of the 18th century. The eastern choir yoke protrudes and the western yoke is connected to the sacristy , which is aligned with the nave , a chapel and the oratorios . In the western part of the nave central nave there is a three-axis gallery with a swinging parapet and in the north aisle there is a two-axis gallery. Both were extended to the neo-baroque style. The parapet of the oratorio dates from the last third of the 18th century. A Gothic pointed arch portal was also uncovered in the choir in 1967 . The organ originally comes from the branch church of St. Anthony the Hermit and was made in the second quarter of the 18th century and restored in 1969.

The high altar designed by Leopold Weinhauer was erected in 1779 and has statues made by Johann Pieringer . The miraculous image of the Pietà dates from 1510 and was carved over in the Baroque era. The side altars were erected in 1870 and 1871 and resemble the high altar in their design. Statues made by Jakob Gschiel stand on them . The pulpit dates from the same time as the high altar and was designed by the same artists. It has reliefs depicting the fall of Saulus , the baptism of Christ and the Good Shepherd . On the front arch there is a baroque statue of Christ (Christ at rest) with a canopy . In a glass shrine there is a statue of the clothed Mother of God with a canopy from the last third of the 18th century . In the northern side chapel, the Johanneskapelle, there were originally two altarpieces donated by Ottwilhelm von Schrottenbach between 1670 and 1680. These pictures showed Saints Rochus and Sebastian as well as Mary of Victory together with the donor and Pope Clemens X , Emperor Leopold and Wolf von Eibiswald. In the side chapel and in the sacristy there are several alternating pictures painted by Johann Andreas Strauss after 1760, one of which has a silver-plated belt frame from around 1800. The depiction of the four evangelists at the sacristy cupboard also comes from Strauss. The remaining pictures in the church are from 1962 and 1963. The interior of the church was repainted by Anton Hafner in 1946 and 1990/1991 . In 1967 two layers of frescoes that were only preserved in fragments were uncovered in the choir in 1967 , some of which were removed. The first layer shows a representation of the apostles from the middle of the 13th century. The second layer, dating from around 1400, is ascribed to the master von Einersdorf and shows scenes of the passion . The marble tombstone of Hans Adam Einpacher from 1641 is also in the church.
