Filial church hl. Anthony the Hermit (Bachholz)
The church of St. Anton in Bachholz is dedicated to St. Anthony the Hermit . She is a Roman Catholic branch and Sanctuary in the municipality Eibiswald belonging cadastral Sankt Lorenzen in Styria . It is a branch of the parish Eibiswald .
Location
The church is in the scattered settlement of Bachholz , in the middle of the forest next to a large, active quarry, about 140 meters from the Slovenian border. The church can be reached in half an hour on foot from the Radlpass border crossing .
history
The first written mention of the church comes from the year 1617. This first church building was replaced by the existing church between 1711 and 1715 under the direction of Johann Urschnigg. Restoration work was carried out in 1946 and 2007.

In the western part of the church is the facade roof turret with onion helmet . The outer walls of the church are structured by plaster-cut pilaster strips . The two-and-a-half-bay nave has a constricted fron arch , the narrow, one-and- a- half bay choir has a three-eighth end. Both the nave and the choir are spanned by a groin vault with belt arches resting on flat wall pilasters . In the western part of the nave there is a three-axis, three-storey, brick gallery , which is vaulted under a groin vault.
According to a chronogram, the high altar was erected in 1732. The main and upper picture was painted by Johann Andreas Strauss in 1775 and shows the coronation of Mary . The side altars date from around 1730/40. On the walls of the nave there are two altar structures from the third quarter of the 17th century with cartilage ornaments . The pulpit dates from around 1700 and the positive organ was built by Andreas Schwarz around 1720.
