history

A church was mentioned in documents in 1381.

On October 23, 1534, the Lavant Bishop Leonhard Peurl consecrated the new cemetery and the church with two altars “in the Trahuttn”. The reason for this is not mentioned, but in view of similar church consecrations at this time, it can be assumed that at least severe damage to the church by the Turks a few years earlier was the reason: the church was consecrated to Saints Martin and Nicholas, it was still back then a branch church of Osterwitz . The high altar was consecrated to the church patrons. Relics of the lamb of God (Agnus dei), the Calvary (de monte Caluarie), the grave (de sepultura) of St. Mary, St. Peter and St. Stephen as well as other saints who were already unknown at the time are recorded in the consecration protocol . The second altar (to the right of the entrance) was consecrated to St. Ursula and her companions ( Latin : "Vrsule et sodalium eius" ). As relics of the altar , in addition to those of the named, those of the Lamb of God (Agnus dei), the place where Christ wept over Jerusalem ( Latin : “de loco, ubi Christ flevit super civitatem Jerusalem” ), St. Ignatius , St. Mary Magdalene and other unknown saints.

The church was rebuilt in the 17th century, the tower in 1669. The branch of the parish church Maria Osterwitz was elevated to a parish church in 1892. Before that, it had been a “local curatie” since 1788, in which the respective curates were entitled to full parish rights exercise.

architecture

A two-bay choir adjoins the three-bay nave with inserted wall pillars. The nave and choir are vaulted with lancet barrels. The late Gothic sacristy portal has a shoulder arch. The three-axis west gallery is far forward. The four-story west tower has a ground floor that is open to the south and has a pointed tent roof.

Furnishing

The high altar from the end of the 17th century shows the high altar picture St. Nikolaus with the signature A. Kraus 1882. The side altars show pictures by Philipp Carl Laubmann (1747), on the right St. Martin, left Marriage of Mary. The font is baroque.
