The Grossbach is an approximately 7 kilometer long tributary of the Sihlsee in the Swiss canton of Schwyz . It flows through the Grosser Runs valley , formerly called Amselthal , in the municipality of Einsiedeln .

The headwaters of the Grossbach lies on the northern slope of the Butziflue at around 1475 m above sea level. M. in the area Im Stock . It is fed by countless small ditches that run through the coniferous forest . It initially flows northeast towards the valley floor, which it is at 1309 m above sea level. M. achieved.
It flows through the heavily forested valley in a north-northeast direction and passes some small Alps . At Ijenschatten the valley flattens out and the torrent enters a wide gravel plain, which serves as a debris collector. From here the Grossbach is tamed by dozens of barriers to its mouth . The stream turns to the northeast and passes Chälberweidli , Rampelensäge and Entenbach .
The Grossbach reaches the Grossbach district a little south of Gross and finally flows out at 889 m above sea level. M. left in the Sihlsee.
Catchment area
The catchment area of the Grossbach extends over an area of 10.6 square kilometers. It consists of 64.9% wooded area, 31.1% agricultural area, 1.5% unproductive area and settlement area and 1.1% water area. The highest point is at 1608 m above sea level. M. a little below the Gschwändstock , the average height is 1233 m above sea level. M.
In the west is the catchment area of the Alp and in the south that of the Minster .
