The Roman Catholic parish church of Soboth is in the village of Soboth in the market town of Eibiswald in the Deutschlandsberg district in Styria . The parish church , consecrated to St. James the Elder , belonged to the then dissolved dean's office in Deutschlandsberg in the diocese of Graz-Seckau until the end of August 2018 ; The church is a listed building .

history

A church was mentioned in a document in 1545. A previous church burned down due to lightning strike. The church was rebuilt in the late 17th century. A dedication inscribed the year 1704. In 1789 the church was elevated to a parish church. The sacristy was added at the end of the 19th century. The church was restored inside in 1962 and inside and out in 1981.

architecture

The three-bay nave with a slightly drawn-in ogival front arch is followed by a lower and drawn-in single -bay choir with a semicircle. The nave and choir have a ribbed vault, in the nave on semicircular pillars. The tower on the north wall of the nave wears a pointed helmet . The sacristy annex is south of the choir.

Furnishing

The high altar from 1692 was restored in 1858 and, like the north side altar, St. Anna in the workshop of Bartholome Bluemberger in Eibiswald. The tabernacle is from the third quarter of the 18th century. The southern side altar of St. Emergency helper is from the third quarter of the 18th century. The pulpit is from the first half of the 18th century. The font shows the year 1790.

The organ from the second half of the 18th century was transferred here from St. Oswald ob Eibiswald .
