The Roman Catholic parish church of Hollenegg is located in the middle of the second courtyard of Hollenegg Castle in Hollenegg in the market town of Bad Schwanberg in the Deutschlandsberg district in Styria . The parish church , consecrated to St. Aegidius , belonged to the then dissolved dean's office of Deutschlandsberg in the diocese of Graz-Seckau until the end of August 2018 ; The church is a listed building .

history

One church was mentioned around 1165. A parish in 1445. The new church was probably built with the master builder Johann Fuchs and consecrated in 1778.

architecture

The main elliptical room has four niches between the projecting pillars on the long sides. To the south is the rectangular choir. In the north is the tower with two square extensions and a front facade.

At the entrance there is a coat of arms stone of Friedrich von Hollenegg, died 1368. On the outside there are four beautiful figural Renaissance tombstones of the Lords of Hollenegg and their wives made of red marble from the first half of the 16th century, remarkable here is the epitaph of Friedrich von Hollenegg, died in 1528 .

Furnishing

The decor is rococo . The altar leaves of the side altars were painted according to the signature Phi. Carolus Laubman 1753.

In the arcades on the west side are remarkable death shields with excellent heraldic carved reliefs and a corresponding figural tumba plate made of white-gray marble from the first and second quarters of the 16th century.

There is a bell from 1767.
