history
A church was mentioned in documents in 1430. A renovation took place around 1650. In 1743 the nave was rebuilt with the builder Joseph Hueber . In 1765 the roof turret was added. The branch of the parish church Eibiswald was a local curate from 1790. It was elevated to a parish church in 1892, but before that the respective curates were entitled to exercise their parish rights in full. In 1838 the Gothic choir was torn down and a new choir was built. In 1914, a new onion helmet was put on the tower instead of the pyramid roof. The last exterior renovation took place in 1987. Inside the church was redesigned in 1999 and in 2001 it got a new Pflüger organ.
architecture
The three-bay nave with rounded corners and a wider central bay looks like a central room. The retracted three-bay choir closes with a segment of a circle. The west facade is structured with pilasters. The west portal shows the year 1743.
The nave and choir have square vaults on belts on pillars. Toni Hafner (1960) painted the ceiling frescoes . The gallery in the constricted west yoke swings forward. The two western yokes of the choir have open oratorios.
Furnishing
The high altar and the side altars in baroque forms were probably made around 1838. The high altar picture is from the first half of the 18th century. The side altarpiece of St. Augustine has the signature Carl Amon 1840. There is a painting St. Maria Magdalena with a view of Ortisei from the 17th century which was restored in 1974. The pulpit is from the second half of the 18th century.
