The Roman Catholic parish church of Schachendorf is to the northeast, just outside the municipality of Markt Neuhodis in the Oberwart district in Burgenland . It is consecrated to Saint Martin and belongs to the dean's office in Rechnitz in the diocese of Eisenstadt . The building is a listed building .

history

Construction of the church began in 1818 and was completed in 1834. It has been an independent parish since 1946.

Church exterior

The church is a long rectangular structure. The north tower has a low onion spire . The tower in the basement is older. The south facade dates from the second half of the 19th century.

Church interior

The low nave has three bays and is vaulted with a square vault. The gallery was built in 1896 without supports. The narrow triumphal arch is grooved and separates the nave from the choir. The semicircular apse is hollowed into the north wall. Above it is a bowl vault with stitch caps . The wall paintings “ Annunciation ” and “Holy Trinity ” date from the second half of the 19th century.

Furnishing

The neo-Romanesque furnishings were created around 1900. The high altar painting from 1840 shows St. Martin .
