The Roman Catholic parish church Scharten is located in Scharten in the municipality of Scharten in the Eferding district in Upper Austria . The church, consecrated to the Nativity of Mary , belongs to the Eferding deanery in the Linz diocese . The church is a listed building .

history

The Gothic church was built from 1506, from 1532 to 1602 the construction was stopped, and only completed in 1632. The church was baroque, except for the Gothic façade.

architecture

The single-nave, four-bay stab cap barrel vaulted nave has drawn-in struts. The Gothic two-bay choir with a five- eighth end was provided with architectural painting in the Rococo style (around 1770) after the vault ribs had been removed.

Furnishing

The rococo high altar was created by Karl Höfer from Krems (1769). He bears a late Gothic statue of Our Lady from the beginning of the 16th century.
