history

Relief of the Martyrdom of St. Laurentius at the east tower

At the end of the 12th century a fortified church was built in Sollenau and consecrated to St. Laurentius. Around 1220 the church was named as a branch church of St. Margaret's Church in Traiskirchen . In 1312 the mother church and thus the branch church is incorporated into Melk Abbey. The late Romanesque square tower was added to the church at the end of the 13th century. The church was extensively renovated in 1856, and the west facade was given its (new) Gothic appearance.

On January 1, 2017, the parish Theresienfeld was expanded to include the parishes of Felixdorf and Sollenau and renamed to Zum guten Hirten im Steinfeld. The parish church in Sollenau was designated as the parish church. The Sollenau parish was abolished. The parish church of Sollenau has since been the parish church of the parish of the good shepherd in Steinfeld and is the church of the sub-community St. Laurentius.

Parish Museum

The parish museum was opened in 2007 and houses objects and documents from earlier times and a translation of the parish memorial books, which contain a continuous history since 1758.
