The parish church of St. Anthony Abbot and St. Christina is a church building in St. Christina in Val Gardena in South Tyrol (Italy).

location

It is located near the prehistoric high trail "Troi Paian" and is the oldest pastoral care facility in the valley. The church is located above Triech. The main entrance can be reached through a stone bridge; this was built in 1916 with the construction of the route of the Val Gardena Railway . The main entrance of the building faces west, and we also find a north and a south entrance. At the east end of the church there is a small funeral chapel ; If you go further east from this, you can go through the gate with the inscription "Resurrecturis" , which brings you to the church square. The church is surrounded by the cemetery.

history

At the end of the 12th century, a chapel dedicated to Saint Christina of Bolsena may have stood here. From the Romanesque church, which is mentioned in a papal letter of indulgence from 1342, the bell tower is still preserved up to the roof approach. Later the character was largely changed through renovations and additions. The choir, to which a polygonal ossuary was added in the 16th century, dates from the Gothic period.
