history

A parish was mentioned in a document in 1277. The church was incorporated into Schlägl Abbey in 1642.

The probably earlier Romanesque nave (before 1300) has beam holes in the attic from a former flat ceiling. The choir was built in the 14th century, the nave windows are late Gothic, probably from the 15th century. Extensive redesigns arose from the end of the 15th century through the award of an indulgence (1494). These are the choir vault in the first quarter of the 16th century, the nave vault in the second quarter of the 16th century. The Gothic south tower was changed in the 16th century with new windows and in the 17th / 18th century. Century increased baroque. The southern extensions are baroque. In the fourth quarter of the 19th century there was a renovation, in 1975 an interior restoration.

architecture

The church is ring-shaped by a walled cemetery and partly adjacent buildings such as the rectory.

It is an older building that was redesigned in the late Gothic style. The three-bay, presumably Romanesque nave is vaulted with a late Gothic stab cap barrel showing net ribs above wall pillars. The retracted Gothic choir has a five- eighth end, the vault shows a ribbed cross and star ribs over probably older round services. The mighty tower is in the southern corner of the choir. To the south of the nave, in line with the tower, there are unified single-storey extensions with portal vestibules and a connecting passage to the tower with a staircase. The western front has a three-storey neo-Gothic porch.

Furnishing

The facility is one of the most important neo-Gothic designs from the Josef Kepplinger workshop .

The organ was built by Johann Lachmayr (1892). It has a neo-Gothic case with a three-winged prospect , triangular gables, tracery decoration and pinnacles . The work has eight stops , a cone drawer, a mechanical action and a manual. In 1973 the organ was restored.

Dionysius Schulthes names a bell in 1596 and shows a relief of the crucifixion .
