Catholic parish church hl. Johannes Nepomuk in Stopfenreuth

The Roman Catholic parish church of Stopfenreuth is located in the village of Stopfenreuth in the Engelhartstetten community in the Gänserndorf district in Lower Austria . It is consecrated to St. John Nepomuk and belongs to the Marchfeld deanery in the vicariate Unter dem Manhartsberg of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The building is a listed building .

Location description

The parish church forms the northern end of the village of Stopfenreuth.

history

A parish already existed in Stopfenreuth around 1200. After a temporary suspension, the parish was rebuilt in 1784. Today's baroque village church was built in 1737.

Church building

Church exterior

The compact church has a pilaster-structured west tower facade with a surrounding cornice . Above it is a gable-shaped transition to the facade tower with an onion helmet and large, arched sound windows . The nave is simply designed and has arched windows. The choir has moved in slightly. A sacristy annex adjoins the church in the east .

Church interior

The nave has a flat roof. Underneath is a surrounding cornice. The choir is a little higher and ends on 3/8.

Furnishing

A remarkable picture from around 1700 hangs on the end of the choir wall above the Altarmensa , showing the festival “ Mariä Hilmmelfahrt ”. It is flanked by adoring angels from the former high altar. The side altar with the miraculous image “Mariahilf” dates from the 18th century.
