The parish church Theißenegg is in the mountain village Theißenegg in the municipality Wolfsberg in the Wolfsberg district in Carinthia . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to St. Mary Magdalene belongs to the Wolfsberg deanery in the diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

A parish existed before 1464. Until 1616 the patronage of St. Andreas called, with 1754 hl. Mary Magdalene.

The Gothic and, in the core, Romanesque fortified church has a defensive upper storey with loopholes above the nave and choir. In 1993 the interior was restored with the restoration of the baroque colors.

architecture

The former fortified church is surrounded by a defensive wall, which has only been partially removed, with loopholes and two arched portals.

The outside of the church has a west tower the width of the nave, the tower has ogival sound openings and has a pyramid roof. The Gothic profiled west portal with a tympanum on corbels has an iron-studded door.

The interior of the church shows a two-bay nave with a ribbed vault on stucco consoles. The wooden gallery is in the narrow tower ground floor.

Furnishing

The high altar around 1670/1680 has a triumphal arch architecture over a small base with bent side panels.

Mathias Landsmann names a bell in 1695.
