church

The existing church was partially demolished due to structural damage. According to the plans of the architect Heinz Tesar , the church was rebuilt and expanded from 1978 to 1979. The old chancel from the baroque period can now be closed with a sliding door and serves as a working day chapel, the altars have been preserved. A new square church space was set up, which is aligned diagonally to the new people's altar. Both areas can be used together on holidays.

The Unterberg altarpiece by Wolfgang Hollegha , initially ordered by the pastor and the building committee, did not meet with broad approval from the population and was then withdrawn by the archdiocese and exhibited in the Salzburg St. Virgil Education Center . Now, 30 years after the inauguration of the Unterberg im Lungau church, the modern altarpiece that was once rejected is returning.

Patronage

The anniversary, Ulrichsprangtag , is traditionally celebrated near Ulrichstag with a procession with the participation of local associations.
