St. Virgil Salzburg is the education center , conference center and hotel of the Archdiocese of Salzburg in the Aigen district of Salzburg . It is named after Saint Virgil .

In June 2020 it was announced that Franz Gmainer-Pranzl would succeed Michael Max as rector of the education center. The handover should take place in early September.

Architecture of the building

The building by Wilhelm Holzbauer , opened in 1976, is one of the outstanding examples in the construction of popular educational institutions in recent architectural history.

  • In the foyer there is a sculpture of St. Virgil by Josef Zenzmaier .
  • The Emmaus Chapel has a mural Emmaus by Josef Mikl .
  • The counterpart to the chapel at the entrance facade is the learning studio, which is designed with a 180 square meter mural The Work of the Spirit by Peter Pongratz .
  • In 1979 Wolfgang Hollegha created a picture of a person praying for the Unterberg parish church , which is on loan in St. Virgil due to a lack of acceptance by the parish.
  • The meditation room was designed by Inge Dick .
  • Pier Ragnhild Eckhoff's Way of the Cross is in the anteroom of the house chapel .
  • In seminar room 2 there is a colorful collage by Karl-Hartwig Kaltner .
  • Ruth Leibnitz created the bronze stele Cain and Abel 72 .
  • The applications in the dining room on the subjects of lilies in the field and birds in the sky are by Gerti Fröhlich .
  • Accommodation rooms are located in the main St. Virgil building and in the St. Rupert guest house .

Mülleitner , Ben Siebenrock , Renate Georgi .

St. Virgil art space

Exhibitions take place in the art space. Hubert Nitsch was appointed curator. The Cardinal König Art Prize is exhibited in the St. Virgil art room.
